Tim is the owner of Compass Vision Therapy and the lead therapist. He has a master's degree in low vision therapy from Salus University, a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from Colorado State University, is a certified low vision therapist (CLVT), and is a registered and licensed occupational therapist (OTR/L). Tim also has a graduate certificate in upper extremity rehabilitation from Drexel University.
Tim has 25 years of experience as an occupational therapist and completed a 440 hour low vision internship at the Southwestern Blind Rehabilitation Center at the Veteran's Administration hospital in Tucson Arizona in 2022. Tim is also currently serving as an occupational therapist in the United States Army Reserve, holds the rank of lieutenant colonel, and completed one combat tour in Afghanistan in 2011. Tim has broad experience working in hospital, outpatient, and in-home settings and has treated people with a variety of neurological, orthopedic, and visual conditions.
Tim's first experience with vision-related care started in 1999 when he was working on a stroke and brain-injury unit at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He performed vision screenings for referral to the hospital neuro-optometrist and provided oculomotor therapy for weak eye muscles. After many years of experience doing hand therapy, his interest in vision-related therapy was rekindled in 2016 when his father-in-law was diagnosed with age-related macular degeneration and he found limited services available for low vision therapy in southwest Florida.
